Data sources and licences
Ścieżkami combines open data with texts written by our editors. This page lists the sources, their licences and how we use them.
OpenStreetMap
Licence: ODbL 1.0
Settlement names and coordinates for Belarus and Poland, and some places in the catalogue, come from OpenStreetMap. OpenStreetMap data is available under the Open Database License 1.0; the part of our database derived from it can be downloaded under the same licence.
Wikidata
Licence: CC0 1.0
We check identifiers, coordinates and basic facts against Wikidata. Wikidata is available under CC0, without restrictions.
Narodowy Instytut Dziedzictwa (NID)
Licence: CC BY 4.0
For Polish monuments we use the heritage registers of the National Institute of Cultural Heritage (NID), published on dane.gov.pl under CC BY 4.0: the register number, address and coordinates help us confirm a place. We have modified this data: we selected records, matched them with OpenStreetMap and checked the coordinates.
Wikipedia
Licence: CC BY-SA 4.0
We use Wikipedia only to check facts. Its articles are licensed under CC BY-SA, but we do not reuse their text: card descriptions are written by our editors.
Wikimedia Commons
Licence: Per-file licence
Photos come from Wikimedia Commons. Each file has its own licence: the author, licence and a link to the file page are shown under the photo on every card.
Globus of Belarus
Licence: Fact-checking only
We use Globus of Belarus (globus.tut.by) internally to check facts about Belarusian places. Its texts and photos are not used on this site.
Opencaching.PL
Licence: Selection signal, CC BY-SA 3.0 PL
Used as a hidden signal: caches near a place (Traditional, Virtual, Webcam and the first stage of Multi caches) influence which places are selected and how suggestions are ordered. Positions, facts and texts come from OpenStreetMap, Wikidata and the NID registers; cache descriptions, hints, logs and hidden coordinates are not copied. Where a cache influenced the choice of a place, its card shows the cache code, its author and a link.
